Modern Japanese Ceramics Pottery Contemporary

By Appointment is best. You might get lucky just popping by, but a great deal of the month I am out visiting artists or scouring up new items, so days in the gallery are limited.
In accordance with the request of local authorities our gallery in Kyoto will be closed from April 1st until further notice.

A mentori square vase with odd openings by American artist Donna Gilliss dating circa 1988 enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A huge red moon circles over the dark charred clay. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, 4 x 5 inches (10 x 13 cm) square and in excellent condition. Like Kakurezaki Ryuichi and other Bizen greats, Donna studied under Living National Treasure Isezaki Jun in 1972, and later under Isezaki Mitsuru from 1973-1978. She opened her own kiln in 1979, and has been displayed at the Chugoku Regional Nihon Dento Kogei Ten among others.
