Modern Japanese Ceramics Pottery Contemporary

By Appointment is best. You might get lucky just popping by, but a great deal of the month I am out visiting artists or scouring up new items, so days in the gallery are limited.
In accordance with the request of local authorities our gallery in Kyoto will be closed from April 1st until further notice.

This dark form representing a flower wears its areola at a randy angle like an Aussie slouch hat. It is by Azuchi Tadahisa and comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kuro Hanabira Kaki. It is roughly 8 inches (20 cm) tall and in excellent condition.
Azuchi Tadahisa was born in Takayama in 1947, and became a farmer after graduating university. In 1978 he began producing glass works in his off time, learning the craft under Kotani Shinzo of the Kurashiki Glass tradition.. By the mid eighties his works, mostly functional, were being sold throughout Japan. He has been exhibited widely both domestically, as well as New York and Denmark.
