Gold seems to shatter into a thousand shards on the deep green surface of this large vase by Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yuri Kinsai Hanatate. The image reminds me of looking into the murky depths of the pond for brilliant glints of passing koi, the sun reflecting off the water in golden shards.
