By Appointment is best. You might get lucky just popping by, but a great deal of the month I am out visiting artists or scouring up new items, so days in the gallery are limited.

A gorgeous pottery bowl retaining the mingei feel while bringing in a sense of modern art with natural ash glaze flowing like peacock feathers from around the rim by much lauded artist Kawamura Sekizan enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Haiyu-hachi. It is 11 inches (27.5 cm) diameter and in excellent condition.
Kawamura Sekizan was born in 1938, and graduated the local Industrial High School before apprenticing under Kato Sho, one of the most prolific and important artists of the mid century. Sekizan has exhibited and been awarded at the Nitten, Kufukai (Kofukai award) Nihon Gendai Kogeiten National Modern Crafts Exhibition (Gendai Kogeisho), Asahi Togeiten Ceramics Exhibition (Governors prize) and the Seto Kogeiten (Ceramics award) among many others. He is held in the Seto City Municipal Collection.
