This is like a venus fly-trap, beautiful and inviting, but somehow all those gold droplets about the opening hint of teeth. A magnificent work by rising star female potter Nagaoka Chiyo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kaju no Utsuwa. It is 9 inches 823 cm) diameter, 4.5 inches (12 cm) tall and in excellent condition.
Nagaoka Chiyo was born in Nagasaki in 1983, and studied at the Aichi University of Education Sculpture Department, graduating advanced studies in 2007. Her first work was exhibited while still in school at the Joryu-Togeiten Exhibition of Women artists in 2005. In 2006 her work was featured in the Cera-mix exhibition at the Meguro Ceramic Museum. From 2007-2012 she would annually exhibit at the Aichi Ceramics Museum. She would go on to study decorative techniques of Hasami Yaki in her hometown in Kyushu, finishing in 2013.
