A dark, charred Vase dating from 1972 by Shimizu Yasutaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. White rivulets seem to weep out from the igneous surface, scattering pell-mell over the rugged texture. Opposite the raw clay is barely visible, baked and spattered with natural ash glaze. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) diameter and in fine condition, a rare early work by this important contemporary artist. A large slab of clay has been bent, torn pinched, and wrent into an abstract dish by Contemporary artist Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The dish is 57 by 26 cm (22-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches) and is in excellent condition. There are some minor dings and dents to the wooden box lid.
