Fissured white supplants the sand textured earth of this voluminous work by Shimizu Yasutaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box and displayed at the 28th Nihon Dento Kogeiten Traditional Crafts Exhibition and published on page 11 of the catalog for that year (1999, catalog included). A crescent of iron speckled earth spins out from the mouth, punctuated by a Kikko flower, the thick white feldspathic glaze sagging down toward the center, where a belt of raw clay peers out over the ice-co ...click for details

Striking black flashes of oil-spot glaze surface on this Tetsu-yu Tessai Tsubo by Shimizu Yasutaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A dark, charred Vase dating from 1972 by Shimizu Yasutaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. White rivulets seem to weep out from the igneous surface, scattering pell-mell over the rugged texture. Opposite the raw clay is barely visible, baked and spattered with natural ash glaze. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) diameter and in fine condition, a rare early work by this important contemporary artist. Yasutaka was born into the pottery household of future Li ...click for details

A large slab of clay has been bent, torn pinched, and wrent into an abstract dish by Contemporary artist Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The dish is 57 by 26 cm (22-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches) and is in excellent condition. There are some minor dings and dents to the wooden box lid. It is likely that Ryuichi needs no introduction, one of the most well known of Bizen potters, he is interestingly originally not from Bizen but far off Nagasaki, which seems to have gifted ...click for details

Glowing softly like the moon in the dark confines of the tea room is this expertly crafted bowl by Shimizu Yasutaka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The orange peel texture does not reflect, but seems to absorb the light around it. A pale, almost obscure lavender tinges one side. Truly a pleasure to hold. The Bowl is 5-1/4 inches (13.5 cm) diameter2-3/4 inches (7 cm) tall and in fine condition. Yasutaka was born into the pottery household of future Living National Treasure Shimiz ...click for details
